This striking statement necklace was inspired by an authentic early 1900s French equestrian medal bearing the inscription “Société Hippique Française”—the French Horse Society. Once awarded to celebrate excellence in horsemanship, this historic medal has been thoughtfully brought back to life as wearable art.

The original antique medal was carefully replicated by hand in my Louisiana studio using solid bronze clay, preserving the remarkable character and texture that only age can create. Paired with a substantial chunky cable chain, an etched vintage-inspired bail, and my signature matte and polished finish, this necklace feels equally at home in a French countryside estate or paired with your favorite linen blouse and jeans.

Whether you’re an equestrian, horse enthusiast, collector of French antiques, or simply appreciate meaningful handcrafted jewelry, this piece carries over a century of history with unmistakable presence.

As always, each medal is individually hand finished by polishing only the raised details while leaving the recessed areas with a soft matte gold finish. This signature technique highlights every contour of the original antique and ensures that no two necklaces are ever exactly alike.

My Process

Every antique medal in my Crown of Grace Designs collection begins with a journey. I carefully search for authentic antique medals based on their age, rarity, craftsmanship, and historical significance. Many of the originals I work from are well over a century old.

Using a traditional two-part molding process, I create small-batch replicas by hand pressing premium bronze clay into each mold. After careful drying, every piece is kiln fired at 1420°F using a double-carbon firing process to achieve the strength and richness of solid bronze.

Each medal is then individually wire brushed to create a warm matte gold surface before the raised details are hand polished. This combination of matte recesses and softly burnished highlights has become the signature finish of my work, giving every piece depth, warmth, and its own unique personality.

The chains are intentionally selected to complement each historic medal. They feature a durable tarnish-resistant matte finish and are nickel, lead, and cadmium free for comfortable everyday wear.

I am honored to preserve these remarkable pieces of history and share them with you. It is my hope that each necklace becomes a cherished part of your own story.
